Better to be safe than sorry. Do not open it or break it. I am not saying it is dangerous, but a sealed mason jar with stuff inside sounds like a spell to me. Even if this is simply a time capsule, best err on the side of caution. This could simply be a protection, but we do not know. I would cleanse it as best as you can, then dispose of it if you do not wish to rebury it. If this was a house protection set up by the previous owners, it could view you as a threat, or you could use it to further protect the house. Either way, you do not know what it is for. Maybe some kids were playing around. Maybe the previous owner made a protection which could harm anyone who disturbed it. Cleanse it, remove it, then protect yourself and your home.
Through my own research on this topic, I couldn'tfind anything conclusive. That's not to say it doesn't exist. My first thought is that it could be related to something cultural, or something related to good luck. But as others have said, I would advise not to disturb nor open it.
So unfortunately the jar was already broken in the ground. It had been there from sometimes. Problem now is, I have aggressive ghosts in my house. They have already attacked my son while he was sleeping w a piece wood to the head.and I even heard a nasty growling sound outside my bathroom and bedroom window at night. And my yard in completely fence in, so no animals can get in..My dogs are clingy and my cats are freaking out. I want to do a cleansing but not sure which way would be best or even if this is gonna help. I have to get rid of them immediately. This is insane. Any ideas? I'm sure they have to be from the jar. Didnt have this before the jar showed up.
It's so old and has been in the ground so long can't really tell. There was a piece of paper. Small can't really see anything.
But I have updated the tread since. It's bad.
Thanks for the reply. But the jar was already broken in the ground. And since my house has aggressive ghost. They have already physically attacked my son, hitting him in the head with a piece of wood while he was sleeping. And we keep hearing growling sounds area my house in the back yard. Which is completely fenced in. So no animals can get in. Want to do a cleansing but not sure if that's even gonna work. Because they are aggressive. And ideas would help
Trust me, it wasn't for good luck. Have an extreme issue now. Aggressive ghosts. And it was already broken when she found it. It had been there a long time.want to get rid of them. Not sure if a cleansing will be enough.
I dont know if people are reading what you say, but as I understand, jar was found eroded and already broken in the ground? and your problems started, now, when you meddled with that jar yes?
So, reason and logic tells me that jar was some kind of protection, now its gone and you have problems.
Recreate the Jar spell, and you are safe again. That's what I would do. investigate around and make similar spell, put a new jar in same place where you found this one, or at least near it.
If the jar was already broken when you found it, then the spell bound to that jar is already gone and nothing that you have done to it is going to have any effect. So, as has been suggested, the jar might have been a protection spell and now that protection is gone allowing the ghosts access to your home.
So your actions now should be towards banishing these ghosts and re-establishing protection on your home. Here are some suggestions:
Witch Bottle/Jar Spell - There are a lot of articles out there about making a Witch Bottle for protection and most of them call for a wide variety of ingredients. But the traditional bottle is really simple. Take a small bottle or jar with a screw-top. In the bottle, place an assortment of sharp objects such as nails, pins, thorns, broken glass, etc. Then add some of your own urine to tie the spell to yourself and your home. Bury the jar near your front door or at the entrance to your yard. Here's some simple instructions - https://www.learnreligions.com/make-a-witch-bottle-2562680
I also like to salt my threshold while chanting simply "Let nothing of ill intent enter here " But don't do this one until you have first cleansed your home or you seal the spirits you want gone inside the home.
It could have been a spirit trap if it was buried in the ground, I know that in hoodoo for instance using a shoe can be used in representational magic for banishing , think like "I'm putting my foot down on this matter" , did the aggressive spirits start before or after this thing with the jar started? That's what makes me think it was a spirit trap, or some kind of protection since the jar was broken the anchor to the spell is destroyed meaning there was nothing like to keep the spell sealed and working hence this situation you've described. Let me know if I have misunderstood what you wrote.
