No, really, think about it-- all the best occult dramas and fantasies have some epic war between good and evil, every adventure needs a fight scene or battle scene... I wouldn't worry so much about it making people choose violence-- more like it's influencing a need for a martial discipline, or returning to warrior codes of honor, to give a deeper meaning to life. Fun.

Probably the same with the apocalyptic prophecies-- for every creation myth there ought to be one that wraps things up. Hardly a generation has passed since 30 A.D. that didn't have a few people screaming that the sky is falling:

I can't speak for individuals, but I'd say the collective awareness of each generation is, we just need to feel special enough to be the last and go out with a bang.
