I am thinking about having the wand all nice and peach tree and stuff. At the top of the wand can you like... Split the top and fit a gem on it? A birthstone or a item that is close to you? I am new, confused, and quite uncertain about this magic stuff. Help is very much appreciated.
When you make a wand is it possible to make out of unnatural things?
Also can you buy wands or is it useless?
I'll probaly make one as you instructed but I'm best at making things using chemicals.
I am not a Wiccan, nor a Pagan. I am Christian but believe magic is real. I do not believe in that awful excuse of a creation story(the seven day story) but believe magic is real and the wand is the best way to practise.
Merry Meet! I am new to the group. I have been practicing for years and the family conducts rituals and spells as a unit. It has been a real solidifying force in our household.
I have recently begun working on a wand, a beautiful piece of hickory (good for abundance, command, power, acquisition, wholeness, and finding direction) that spoke to me when I picked the branch up. I've never had a wand before because I just never felt a connection to the piece of wood I was handling. This piece had been worked over by ants (clean now)and has 7 holes like a flute along 7" of the branch which makes that section hollow. I've carved about 1/2 of it but left the bark on for the entire "holey" section and for about an inch at the top end for a more natural character. I intend to tip it with a small quartz crystal for focus and magnification. I will also add leather at the base.
Here are my questions:
1) My thought was to maybe grind up some herbs/resins to fill some/all of the holes. How would you suggest I seal them after adding the herbs? My first thought would be a wax, but I want it to have permanence.
2) What would you suggest for treating/sealing the finished wood? I think I want to keep the natural color/nature of the wood so I don't think I'm going to stain it. I would think a varnish would trap energy in it and not let it flow. What can I use that will add some shine to it without taking away from the natural beauty or hampering its natural magickal properties?
3) On the same line as 2, suggestions for anchoring the crystal point? I'm afraid the nature of a cement/glue would impede the flow of energy through the wand. Thoughts?
Thank you for any responses. I hope to learn a lot from this forum! Blessed Be!
making a wand dose not take to much preparations or knowledge.
you have t chose a type of wood, in generally people chose the wood from their zodiacal sign. in a night with full moon go to the type of plant from where you want to take wood for your wand, its not importand how long you make it, you have to break it, not cut it, you will can use a tool only after you take it home. so you wont cut the energy source. after you took it home, you can clean it, and to make it work, with some purified water.
