In my opinion you cannot be both Wiccan and Catholic as the belief systems are very, very different. A Catholic is supposed to believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that you must believe in him in order to be saved. Wiccans don't necessarily believe Jesus was Divine or even that he existed at all. Nor do we believe that we have to be "saved" since we don't believe in the notion of Original Sin.
As the other poster said, you don't have to be Wiccan to practice magic. Ceremonial magic for instance has deep roots in Judeo-Christian mysticism. So here the question would be whether you believe that your priest is correct and that practicing magic is a sin. And if you believe it is a sin, are you willing to take the risk of Divine retribution somewhere down the line.
I don't believe in the mixing..or attempting to mix religions.
It's one thing to be of a religion and practice magick. It's something completely different to attempt to claim to be of two separate, seemingly unrelated religions for the "sake of magick".
As Esprit pointed out, you don't need to be Wiccan to work with magick.
There are many religions and traditions who incorporate magick into their teachings and way of life, however you don't need to be part of any of them to incorporate magick. Magick itself, has no religion or religious preference.
Don't feel pressure to change your personal beliefs simply because some people can't separate religion from magick ;)
catholicism describes everything outside themselves as sin. it is impossible to combine these two things. but there are magical traditions, where catholicism is not prohibited. church is often used in magic, not only the candles....
Evil is only the inner conflict, and there may be a conflict between egregors-

Read (not watch!) The Da Vinci Code. I guarantee it is based on factual information, only the plot and characters are fictional, the setting and information presented is completely authentic. It made me rethink the relationship between christianity and paganism, I think it can do the same for anyone.
