Can runes be used to work magic in the place of the props that are normally used like candles? They have meanings and magical natures so they seem like better ways to represent a desire to be filled, than say the color red. Please respond

Runes are usually used for divination, but I suppose if certain runes mean something special to you in particular, they could be used to represent specific intentions and whatnot. I'm not quite sure though, as I have not worked with runes, only read about them.

Runes used not only in dark, but in magic rituals. Runes can be put on the candle and runes to choose depending on the purpose of ritual

Yes they could if you used the right rune. However runes for common magickal props aren't commonly used or known so you may have to look into your self and The Rune to find them. Runes are all around us and not limited to the common furthrak.

I agree with luna, runes can be used, not all the time as substitutes, but can be used if under correct circumstances. Remember, there are many different rune languages, and sometimes the same symbol mean two completely different things.

Runes are not *only* for divination. They serve a variety of purposes and can be used in a variety of ways, as seen in Norse magick and northern traditions.

For spellcaster1 I recommend googling the words rune and spells. You clearly have no idea about this topic (which would be fine if you tried looking something up first) so why bother commenting? Runes are great for divination but they can also be used for spells.

I want to thank everyone for their input and let you know that I found my answer. WhiteRav3n has an excellent rune basics guide that I really recommend. It helped a ton. Runes are unlike candles but can serve the same purpose. Instead of helping you focus your magic like a candle, they use powers that come from the gods that represent either their character or their Aett. They can be more powerful, more volatile and more dangerous to the caster than spells with candles and wands. It involves focusing in to a power not your own. And yes they can be used without the "props"

Topic closed in my opinion ^_^
