I have an idea for a card game based on casting spells. I don't have much education in this area so I was hoping for some ideas. Here's how the gameplay works:
Players will have a hand of cards, and on a player's turn, they will play a card that will reveal another card from one of four face-down stacks. The players can control what card will be turned over from which stack but don't know what is on the card until the card it turned over. The flipped cards will form four columns under the four stacks of cards, and at some point, the player's will claim a column of face-up cards for themselves. Thematically, players will be casting spells from the cards they play with the column of cards they collect representing the results of the spells.
Any suggestions on what kind of spells might be performed and under what circumstances? Since its a game, players will be competing against each other, and the way it works now (open to other ideas), cards will be collected forming sets to score points.
How could you possibly 'cast' spells willy nilly like that ? Magical energy is 'not' to be wasted in such a manner. Fortunately I know that doing spells like that would ' never' work. Do it as a game please and leave the 'real' magic out of it....
That sounds like it would work and let people around the world know how magic is actually done. However, I would agree with the two others with magic shouldn't be wasted and incantation shouldn't be on the card. So, the card would look like this.
name of card
picture of what it does
effect
card number
*NOTE: No incantation then you would be fine. If you do, a lot of magical beings will be upset and deal with lawsuites from those that done it and either got frightened or became power hungy. Just keep an open mind
Thanks for the feedback. Any ideas on what kind of setting this could take place in? Naturally, players are competing so there would have to be a way to score points.
Magic is the first mystery! There should be no games, entertainment, and an expose on the show. Do not make a show of magic, especially card magicians.
in my country are commonly used in magic card, but it does not map tar and ordinary playing cards, a deck of 36 cards. On the maps do omens, damage, curses and so on. performed elaborate rituals, no not the kind of game you describe the buyout. the cards can not joke like that!
"mageck its science not mystery!"
-->science itself is mystery.. everything in this world is mystery.. science and mystery plays hand in hand..science was born merely because of the word "mystery." so if science is mystery, so as magick..
and about this card game, do you know why modern people view magick as pure superstition? it is because of these games you are making and the movies that you are watching.. you are most probably insulting and degrading this sacred science.. anyone clinging to this sacred art will be ridiculed because they do assume that we (magickal practitioners) are just playing or portraying what is seen on games and the likes, which is not..
