Any Good Remedies?

You see, I have this unsightly problem with chapped lips. I was just wondering what I could make that could help me cure it. No matter how much lipgloss I put on my lips it still gets chapped.

You won't want to use lipgloss, because that will just chap them more. (I learned that the hard way :/) But you can try some cocoa butter, or a little petroleum jelly before you go to sleep. You want to use a high intensity moisturizer. Olive oil mixed with a little granulated sugar will make a great and gentle lip scrub :)

Shea butter will work too for moisturizing ,and you can add the vaseline on the top of it to act as seal and barrier against wind and cold .Cold and windy weather dries your skin and lips .Aloe vera gel is also good moisturizer . They sell in the shops lip balms ,some have color and smell and some are without .I use one which has peach fragrance and I have no problem with my lips .

You can also make your own super moisturizing lip balm for cheap .

Aloe Vera lip balm

5 ml (1 table spoon ) aloe vera gel .
2.5 ml (1/2 table spoon ) extra virgin coconut oil .
5 ml (1 table spoon ) petroleum jelly (Vaseline ) or non-petroleum jelly .

Method:
1.Place ingredients in a small clean glass bowl and microwave for 1-2 minutes on high until melted .Stir to blend .
2.Poor into a small cosmetic container and cool .

This makes about 12 ml balm(2 1/2 table spoons)

Source for this recipe is the book Aloe Vera The Natural Healing Choice by Lee Faber .

Additional tips :
Keep the ready balm into the fridge so you can perserved well for longer .
Use juice extracted directly from the plant or make sure it is 100 % Aloe Vera juice (it will have some conservants for sure ).
Use 100 % extra virgin cold pressed coconut oil. It should smell as coconut and it is solid in normal room temperature .Such coconut oil is a food grade so you can even cook with it safely ,because has no additional chemicals .
Vaselin is the most famous trademark of petroleum jelly ,however there are another companies which produce it and it is cheaper .As long as it is petroleum or non-petroleum jelly you are good to go .
I tend to keep old lip balm containers .I wash and sterilize those and reuse them .

I hope this helps .

Generally, lip gloss wouldn't be too nourishing or mosturizing for your lips.

(Don't do this if your lips are raw). You can make a great lip exfoliant by mixing a small amount of sugar and honey to create a gritty substance. You want to apply this to the lips, and gently scrub in a circular motion. A less messy way to rid the lips of dead skin is to also scrub with a damp cloth or rag.

After exfoliating your lips, you'll want to apply a bit of lip balm/chapstick to the area to protect your lips from the cold, the wind, etc. Re-apply as needed.

*One thing to make sure of is that you get enough water to make sure your lips, and body, are hydrated.
