Interested in herb garden

Hello everyone, Merry meet.
I have recently been exploring the possibility of creating an herb garden for many of my spells. I don't have access to outside(Being it's cold already), so I would probably make this inside. I'd like to grow some basic herbs, but I need guidelines and tips perhaps to start. I can save up and buy containers, fertilizer, and such, but I'd like to know what I would need to get started. If you have any tips, please include them.

If you are completely new to gardening, start off with one or two easy to grow herbs. I recommend basil, mint or cilantro. If you do not have a sunny indoor place for your herbs, might want to invest in a grow light. Make sure to send your herbs positive thoughts and energy. I even talk to my herbs and plants.
