Hi, everyone. I am new here, and I have studied magic for a long time, but there is one thing I want to know more which is Necromancy, and hope I can get much info here, like spells of necromancy because the info I get, most of them is about history.
I believe you are going to need help from a spirit or deity, who that spirit is depends on your beliefs. To be a necromancer is to not only command spirits but become bridge or tether between worlds. This power will likely have to come from a god either at birth or through a pact or ritual. Perhaps starting there will find you answers. I'm sure there's sites that discuss it. But the powers I stated before aren't something to be attempted by unexperienced practitioners ( I feel like a broke record on some of these forums with that statement) but it's the truth. To conjure a spirit from the dead then to force it back into it's body and then to have control of it, I can tell you I for sure am no where near that point. So I'll take the role of "that guy" and advise extreme caution. There's many stories of necromancy gone wrong, many end with insanity or death or possession. I'll even be captain obvious and say it's not a practice you want to be caught doing. Many do not hold necromancy in high esteem.
From what i understand about modern day necromancy, death is a state of mind and you do not need a body or grave and you call forward only the spirits who wish to come. Then they cross back over afterword. This is only neccessary for the loved ones of the deceased as the spirits can read our minds and already know all they need to if they have already crossed over.
It also varies from path to path unless you choose necromancy as your path. You may want to check out a couple of books by Allen Kardec, The Book of Spirits and A Collection of Prayers. His work often used in Hoodoo/Voudon/Spiritist circles and he has some good ideas.
I must agree with some of statements here necromancy is one of trickiest parts of magical arts so unless you have a extremely skilled mentor or protection from several high spiritual beings and/or deity's STAY AWAY from it trust me on this one I try`d and if not for my late mentor things would have been really bad for me(and to all of you reading no this incident had nothing to do with his death man died from a heart attack recently, good 3 years after incident)
This may be just my belief (I'm Wiccan and don't think necromancy is the best form of magick to be messing around with), but I think that when something is dead, it's dead, don't mess with it. Death is a natural part if life and if something dies and is meant to come back, it will come back on it's own. I wouldn't mess with something like that, to me it's unnatural for mortals (as in us) to be doing things like that. But if you do try it, I advise the utmost extreme caution and a vast knowledge in purifications and exorcisms. Also, please keep in mind some spirits would like to stay dead an may be upset with you if you try bringing them back. Please be extremely careful. I'd rather you not try necromancy, but no matter what you do, just promise me you'll be careful okay? Thank you and blessed be~.
There is a lot of Facts lost from the dark ages.
There is also a Lot of misinformation about many forms of magic.
The idea of truly raising the dead, to make zombies or puppets of a sort is silly.
One can create servitors out of death energies, which makes them better at their specific function then using other energies.
Contacting spirits is not difficult, modern necromancy has more of a focus on examining the energies of the body and understanding how the energies of death interact with that of life.
The idea of Needing some sort of arcane pact or bond is also silly, although as with Any art it can be enhanced by dealing with entities as well as by attempting to reach out to the dead.
Most of the spirits of the dead are impressions, echo's of their former lives. That does not mean they are useless, or overtly powerful. They have their time and place.
Necromancy is one of the more maligned and "corrupted" forms of magic, many grimoires have been created simply to distort views of what a Necromancer Is and is Capable of. Research is a better friend then opinion.
