I'm going to be a downer but do you know the basics of magick already? In order to cast a spell you need to charge energy, focus, and visualize. I suggest practing some basic things like charging and grounding, as well as basic meditation to help you focus.

If you already know that, you could like into simple candle magick spells, they rely more on the skill you practiced and less on the items. Once you understand 'the basics' you can cast any spell.

I agree with Nekoshema. Once you've gotten all the basics techniques down, a good thing to do is start with small protection spells. Enchantments on jewelry, charging objects to protect a space or person, things like that.
