Questions about Jinn

Post # 1
So there is a place called Wine Cellar Park where I live. Many people have reported weird sightings there. I believe what they're seeing is a Jinn. I saw it too once. It was unnaturally tall, black and cloaked and was standing near the cellars. I went back there with my boyfriend yesterday for Halloween. We saw nothing, but we heard a very loud hissing sound coming from one of the cellars. It was too loud to be a snake. Now, most of the activity that people see at this park happens at night when the aura around the park changes from normal feeling to dangerous, and if there's any activity in the day, it stays strictly within the cellars, which is why I believe it to be a jinn instead of a demon.

Anyways, thinking about all this got me curious about some things:

Can jinns possess people?
Can they be controlled?
Are all of them evil?
Are there different species of jinn?

@Jeweless

Jinn (Arabic: , al-jinn), also romanized as djinn or anglicized as genies (with the more broad meaning of demons), are supernatural creatures in early Arabian and later Islamic mythology and theology. An individual member of the jinn is known as a jinni, djinni, or genie (, al-jinn). Source: wikipedia

@MayalsPower

Can jinns possess people? - No I don't think so.

Can they be controlled - I don't think so, but I could be wrong...

Are all of them evil - Well in my experience I never met a "nice" one, since they are considered demons, I would think they are a lesser evil then most demons.

Are there different species of jinn - Jinn or Djinn, are considered the same, I am not 100% if there are other species of Djinn, like I said I could be wrong, but I would think not.

I'm not 100% on these answers, I'm sure someone who knows more about Djinns will know more, but I hope this helps in some way.

1. Voluntarily, yes. Involuntarily, sure, if the jinn is powerful enough, which most are not. Forced possessions are a lot harder than you'd think. Breaking down a person's will to mount them, isn't something most demons can accomplish, much less most jinn. If you need an idea of a power level, think of a loa at the very least.

2. Yes. Granted, some methods are more effective than others at this.

3. Few demons are "evil" by most standard definitions. Very few spirits in general. Then again, as someone who leans more towards the LHP, my notions of morals likely aren't the same as yours. But no, there are marids out there that are mystics, even the hadiths admits to there being Muslim jinn, if that's what you were curious about. But seriously, I would advise approaching anything with a mindset to make friends. Staying true to your values, but befriending nonetheless. Alliances are better than petty wars, and treat spirits as you would humans. They're not much different.

4. Yes and no. "Tribes" would be a more accurate depictions, though since each tribe has its own patterns, I would say, yeah. Though this is more like a race than a species.

As for the peculiar thing you've noticed, it could be a jinn, though there's a very long list of other spirits it could be. Off the top of my head, rakshasa have been known to do that, nagas as well. Some rogue thoughtform, a force of nature, the "effect" of a higher spirit's power...

I would advise merely divining on it. Ask one of your allies.

The answer may be what you expected, or may entirely shock you. Keep an open mind.

I could investigate it, if you want, though i'm pretty sure this is not something that warrants my intervention...yet.

Yes they can.
In the same sense that other spirits can be controlled assuming you're stronger than them, The most common way with jinn is a binding.
No.
Yes, they're seperated into many groups including ifrits, ghuls, etc.

"My intervention" would refer to me finding the spirit on the astral plane, conversing with them, and either reaching a truce, or dealing with it in other ways.
