Get a white egg and start meditating on the couple that you want to destroy and split apart. Put it on the freezer for two hours.
Take the egg out of the freezer, choose any place near their home or of one of the two people, to put the egg and smash it with your left foot.
Throw the leftovers into the yard. Wait for the results, forgetting the spell ever happened.
Perform on a dark moon, any incantations should come from the heart, and not be memorized in advance, focus all your willpower into the egg, exhausting all of your desire into the egg, until you KNOW it has worked.
Freezer spell or one of those spells with candles work well for this. Male and female candles being separated over a week or nine day spell, ripping up a picture of the couple as art of a spell. Things like this ought to do it.

messing with people's free will isn't going to come with out a back fire if they aren't any good for each other in the first place then nature will take its course and they will split on their own any selfish or jealous reason will come back on you with a set of consequences that you should be prepared to handle

not to agree with those wagging their fingers at you, but i hope you thought this through. too often we cast based on emotions and not logic. a spell of this nature will conjure up negative energy, and this negative energy will linger and can effect you [put you in a bad mood, make your body ache, the room you cast the spell feel off] but if you've sat down, weighed both sides of the issue and concluded it's what you want regardless of the consequences fine.
as for 'the best but simple way' there's many options. for simple you could use a black candle, a chant, even the egg spell Zelotar provided are easy but effective. as for 'best' they're all pretty even, it comes down to your energy and intent. if you raise enough and focus enough any spell will work 'the best'. if you haven't already i would study 'the basics' of magick, practice some energy exercises then cast on the new moon [aka dark moon] as many see this as the peak of negative spells. [or any spell you want to take things away. either way, perfect timing for a break-up spell]
