Non cost items?

Is there magical items I can use without paying? I don’t have the money for it.

Intention is the main thing, learn how to work your energy and apply your intention and you can do a lot with no items at all.

Candles, crystals, items and other items are "tools", they are great to have, can add association into a working and put us in the right mindset, but they aren't something you need for successful practice.

If you did want to work with items, try to make what you can. You are also able to use kitchen herbs in rituals and spellwork, collect natural ingredients yourself (as long as you are certain you know what you are collecting), create your own tools, recycle candles or use tealights if you have them already for your spellwork and rituals. Look into workings that involve natural elements rather than items, systems that don't use lots of tools and different techniques. The key thing though, is your intention and energy, if you know how to work this, you are able to manifest a lot into your life with no tools or items.

You can use rocks, wands, and staffs if you want. I'm not able to discreetly purchase items myself. You can also charge rings and random objects that hold meaning. Salts and water, grown herbs, etc. These are all items free and easy to access.

I used to buy crystals before I took an interest into magic so I was lucky to have such a collection of garnet, quartz, and amythyst.

To add to this, keep in mind that you also do not need tools to help with spells, they are just another means to help you focus on the task at hand, your intent, etc. You don't need to limit your practice just because you don't have this or that on hand.

You are probably one of the greatest tools you have when it comes to magical practice. It's your intent, your will, energy, emotions, etc that help make your spellwork a success.

Many simply use them because they feel it helps improve their chances of success. You will find individuals on both side of the spectrum, from those that just use themselves and the energy they raise/send out and those that use tools to help in their work. Neither is more correct than the other. It mainly depends on the individual and what works for them.

For example, I am very hands on when it comes to magic, and greatly enjoy working with sigils, poppets, candles, and other physical representations of my will. I find them useful tools, and greatly enjoy making them and feel they help me better focus on what it is I'm doing (mainly because my anxiety and OCD makes it hard for me to focus a good portion of the time). However, if I am doing a spell and do not have these materials, I do not let that stop me from doing said spell.

I have met and talked with other practitioners that use few or no tools at all. Again, it's really up to the individual and what works best for them. If you cannot acquire items, do not fret. That does not mean that you can't practice or cast spells or perform ritual rites.

As Hearth said, there are numerous options that you can utilize to help you acquire low cost or free items, from making your own to finding them out in nature.

Something I've been mulling over for a while is the commercialization of magic and witchcraft. While on one hand, having things doesn't harm, on the other it seems too many people are being told everything on these sometimes very expensive lists is mandatory for any sort of success at all.

In truth, until fairly recently, people had to source all of their own ingredients, especially for folk traditions. This included growing (as mentioned above), foraging, and more. If you desired a specific kind of stone for a working, it had to be found in nature. The same was for wild herbs, and finding the right items to use as wands, staves, and more. When a practitioner wanted to accomplish a goal, and a specific thing was not available, it was either done without, substituted, or the working was delayed until such an item could be found. In a way, it was a sort of divination: When the time is right, the ingredients will present themselves.

But I've trailed off on a small tangent. Free ingredients abound, but the core of what you need is within you.

Pretty sure we all overkilled the thread with good information but I want to add that traditionally finding your tools through crafting and nature makes things more personalized and powerful to you.

The whole point to tools is this; say you want to get money or something you can either wave your hand and say in your head "gimme the money mote it be" or you could go out, find the right stick, get a rock, shave the stick to a wand, bind it to yourself, cleanse and charge the rock, then get some money and do whatever to do the spell. It's the fact that so many things meant something to you, and you went out of your way to make it all possible, that it builds foundations to strengthen your belief in the spell.

So even though you might want to flash cash everywhere and buy an arsenal of candles and crystals, sometimes crafting and finding your own resources is much greater in meaning.

I also want to mention some things you can also do that I forgot to mention. Some people like to write their wishes on paper, charge energy into it, and burn it with instead of a candle you can use a lighter. Hell instead of different colored candles use different colored lighters. It's all fire on top of color anyway right?

Apologies for bringing this back to life yet I feel another point should perhaps be brought to life.

In the case of crystals as much as we love them, I'm an avid crystal lover myself, it can't be said all of them are sourced ethically. Many aren't in fact.

So in this sense yes sometimes our tools can cause harm. One of the best ways to make sure the crystals you are using is ethical is to pay a fee to a small family run mine and dig up what you want yourself.

That is a possibility here in the states.

Yet so many here purchase online and even locally from shops that honestly know from where and which mine their crystals come from. This is something I merely feel we as a whole, humankind, should strive to be more aware of.

And practicing need not be so expensive at all. A lot of my best work and confidence in self came from pen, paper, and a plain white tea-light candle.

So please keep in mind you don't need to break the bank.

There are a lot of less pricey alternatives for tools if you should feel you'd like to use any.

Including making your own

Foraging- one of my favorites

Locally looking for crystals and stones...

Growing your own herbs and plants...

Etc.
