A while back I had a dream of someone using what I call "red magic" to either heal or bring someone back from the dead. It's kinda hazy since it has been a few years but I remember a bunch of red, red fabrics, red candles, red around the eyes. It was very bright and cartoon-y in a way. It definitely wasn't blood. It has been at least 3 years and I still can't figure it out or shake off the idea of it. The reaction I had in my dream was despair and relief at the same time as this person was brought back or healed to a great measure. I don't think it was a positive force at work. Is it something tangible? Something practiced or is it just my mind messing with me? Fabricating things that aren't real?
Any information would help me out greatly and would put me at ease.
(also I hope I have put this in the right discussion board)

Magic doesnt have a color, yet we use color to classify the different things we can do with it. Red magic normally means magic that revolves around love, lust, domination and power. In this case red magic is real in the sense that its a category of what you can do with magic. Colors of course can attract different types of energies and Red has always been associated with strong, heated powers, with its connections being to fire and blood and so forth. Its an intense color with intense energies.
Now your dream doesnt seem to have any connotations of love lust or anything like that, so it aint the initial thing that I thought about red magic. For the dream in question, is it a recurring thing or just a dream that has stuck with you all those years? If its the latter, theres probably not a significance to it, perhaps just a bad or strange dream that you had. I would say that if you believe it significant, find some form of divination to use to determine what it could mean. I would honestly say its nothing to worry about though, at least not something to stress too much about.
Magic has no color. It is our colors that define the type of magic we're using. You're doing a spell to harm someone? You call it black magic, but it's not the magic that's black, it's you. There's no such thing as good or bad magic, the character of the magic comes from the energy you're using on a spell.
Categorically speaking "Red Magic" just refers to spell casting that involves or invokes passions, such as lust, anger, etc. Though as has already been previously stated the magic itself has no color, it's just a way of categorizing the kinds of spells being cast.
As stated already magic really has no color as magic is energy.
As for bringing the dead back the only viable practice that comes to mind for me is communicating with ancestors or past loved ones.
Essentially what one would call mediumship.
Individuals could practive witchcraft much like in your dream. Using a red altar cloth, candles, etc. Even make up around the eyes.
For a time I had my altar decorated with blue and red candles, blue and red jars. I bought blue and red placemats, blue and red serving bowls.....seeing a theme here?
But ultimately there is no red magic that brings people back from the dead.
Dreams can be extremely interesting, especially those which you feel have significant meaning. I will not discount your perception of "red magic," though its exact associations would depend entirely on your own interpretation of the dream.
One such example I can give is in a dream of my own from a long time ago. In this dream, I was approached by a figure who told me if I followed, they would teach me [one type of] and [another type of] magic. Neither term used in the dream, as far as I am aware, is a specific discipline, but both terms are at least relatable within various traditions. I believe the dream might have been an offer from an external spirit, or it could have been my own subconscious reaction to having studied magic with dedication for a while at that point. Similar could be said about the Red Magic in your own dream: It could be your subconscious trying to work out some concept of magic in a way, making sense of categorizations and different things you've learned. Or it could have been an observation of an astral entity, or something else. It's entirely up to your own belief and interpretation.
