burying an object or no

At the end of a spell I want to do it says to put contacts into a glass jar then roll it down a hill and then walk away. I don’t really have any hills by me, so can I bury it instead?

Sure. Perhaps even physically roll it into the hole to stick with the idea of rolling it, only instead of down a hill you are rolling it into a hole for burial.

What you do with the remains really depends on the intention of the working and your tradition.

Within some paths, workings that are for cleansing or banishing are typically thrown over the shoulder away from your home and you walk away without looking back (which sounds similar to this workings request). Other workings are buried in specific locations or disposed of accordingly.

If you don't feel there is any need to dispose of the remains in a specific way, you can cleanse and bin. But you may want to adapt the working to suit the intention.

To banish or remove the remains are disposed of away from your home, either in a bin away from your property, or disposed of safely without looking back.
To attract, remains are generally buried or kept in the front of your land to attract it in.
To maintain, remains are generally buried or kept in the back of your land to keep in.

So what you do really all depends on the intention of the working and the tradition you follow.

it depends what you're trying to do with it, rolling it down a hill takes it away from you, bury it keeps it in place. each element works in different ways to help a spell manifest. burying it is usually for a long, sturdy foundation for your spell [so if you want this to take time to work, bury it] fire makes it more instant and fuels it with energy to get the job done now [if you want it out of your life this second, burn it] for a middle ground you can toss the jar is running water [works well if it's an emotional issue] the water will take it away from you and manifest in a moderate time frame. i've never used air to get rid of a spell, but i think that would mean either releasing paper or similar into the air or leaving it on a mountain [so i guess air isn't a good option for you]
