Fake spells

Why do we let people put fake spells on this site? Ik that this is for entertainment purposes, but the shifting spells are messing up inexperienced witches, and when it doesn’t work, they think they are a bad witch. (Ik this because that is what I thought before I joined and read the comments)

Many others have asked this question. From what it seems to me, the spells are up because there are so many and it would take way too long for mods and editors to delete all of them. Because of this, they are put mostly into the fantasy category. Additionally, many people's practice varies and for some spells, there's a fine like between fantasy and real magic that may be difficult at times to differentiate. Finally, I believe the fantasy spells contribute greatly to ad revenue and other money made on the site that helps keep it open. As much as I'd love for some of the fake spells to be removed, it's unfair to expect those running the site to clean up after members who post these spells, and it would damage the site's funding to remove them. Instead, I'm a huge supporter of helping to educate newer witches so that less and less of these fake spells are added in the future. Hope this helps.

Members will have to do what we ourselves do in real life, and learn to distinguish between credible information/resource and that which is false. It is beyond me why there are individuals who fabricate and share misleading material, but there is nothing we can do about it. What we can do is assist in creating useful, educational (credible) resources and trust that newcomers will have the right tools and guidance.

As a "newbie" how would I be able to tell the difference? Is their something that distinguishes real from fake? Looking for Love spell to bring back husband and binding spell for mother in law- Any guidance??

Generally, I tend to explain that real spells are things we can achieve without magic and fake spells are things we can not. For example, you can potentially bring your husband back without magic, but you couldn't say change your eye color. Therefore, we can conclude that love spells exist but eye color spells do not.

These spells bring traffic to the site, and the ad revenue keeps the site free. Only the site admin can delete spells [and he's far too busy to delete all the fake spells] Editors do their best to fix broken spells and articles, but sometimes it's quicker and easier to say "this spell doesn't work" than editing a spell that's something like:

how to become a dog

step one: say "I want to be a dog"

step two: you are now a dog

step three: enjoy!

There are dozens of spells that are like that or less. Not to mention the repeat spells [I've found spells and articles with the exact same name, click on all five, and discover it's the same spell/article by the same user, only they noticed a typo or formatting was wrong so they wrote the entire thing, changed the one word, then posted it. A little later, they learned how to underline stuff, so they repeat the same thing with a few underlined words. So on, so forth] Editors can't delete them, we need to rewrite each one or leave them. Trust me, it's time-consuming. Those times it says I'm online for 4+ hours but I haven't responded to anything. It's because I'm editing an article. I need to research the topic and write a brand new article because we have 3 identical articles, so I fix spelling/grammar on the best one, and create two new ones.

I hope this doesn't come off as me complaining, I'm just explaining how it goes [honestly, I choose to edit articles. I pick a specific day to work on article/spell edits. I planned to spend my day like that because I enjoy it. It just takes time.] I like the comments section because we can now comment on spells, point out what does/doesn't work, and help people who ran into a problem casting. It also opens up the opportunity to "fix" spells to everyone on the site, so it's not just the editors going behind the scenes to edit things, it's a number of members helping the new members.
