ive wondered about the idea for a while, creating objects like the death note or superpowers like mha or horcruxes like harry potter. the idea seems possible, and id have no use for it even if it were true, but id still want to know if it is possible to create objects from pop culture things, like stuff from games, movies, shows, ect.
I'm reminded of Bo Burnham right now "if you want love, lower your expectations a few" because in theory, you could, but it will not be like in the shows.
Death note: you could, in theory, charge a notebook with negative energy. When you write in it, visualize the person suffering. This could curse someone, but I don't think you could kill them like in the show.
MHA powers: you can't get superpowers because it contradicts nature. However, you can use the characters as symbols or inspiration for change. You could also use their symbolism when you train to charge energy to reach an end goal faster.
Harry Potter: Shocker, I don't know much about Harry Potter. I was at the perfect age when the books started being released, but I couldn't afford the books [and there was no English library where I lived] so I never read them, then when I could afford them, I lost interest, so I'm not 100% on Horcruxes [they're a part of a soul? Or is it your animal form? Something like that] In theory, you could create a thoughtform or servanture in the shape of an animal and that thoughtform [it's basically a pool of energy] could do things for you such as protect or help you find solutions to problems.
You can shape your life to resemble a tv show [say The Addams Family or Practical Magic] but keep in mind there is a line between reality and fantasy. You might be able to do some fantastical things you see in shows, but be aware it might not be as wonderous as seen in the show because shows are meant for entertainment.
Horcruxesare adding pieces of the soul into the item and honestly this reminds me of charging items with energy. But it is in no way as fantastically theatrical as in the book.
So while some things on tv could in theory be practiced in a different way, it lacks the theatrics of television.
@Nekoshema: Horcruxes in the Harry Potter universe are objects that allow the witch or wizard to store a piece of their soul inside them. This effectively renders the witch or wizard immortal as long as that Horcrux remains whole. Not immortal as in their body couldn't be killed, but immortal in the sense that a piece of their soul would still be alive somewhere after the body and the rest of the soul inside it were killed. Splitting the soul is done by murdering another human being, and a spell is used to bind the piece to the desired object.
@belladonna4: Obviously, most of the above is pure fiction as far as I'm aware. You could probably bind a bit of yourself to an object, but that shouldn't require murder. I highly doubt such a process would render you immortal either. Even so, I can't recommend binding part of yourself to an object. A bit of energy as when an object is enchanted would be fine, but binding yourself to an object sounds like something that could go wrong even if the result wouldn't be as fantastical as in fiction.
Death Note: Plausible, I guess. Negative energy used to charge the note and while writing the full name, you could envision them suffering and dying. Not sure whether or not you would be able to use it exactly like the show (and I don't think you'll get an amazingly funny shinigami named Ryukto guide you), nor will you be able to make a deal to shorten your lifespan in exchange for magical eyeballs.
As for horcruxes, I don't think it's possible to make yourself a horcrux. Maybe a thoughtform could count since it technically has been made with your energy (i.e, the power of your soul and spirit). But it won't make you immortal or anything, and you don't have to destroy the thoughtform to die.
All in all, it depends on the magic you want to make. Something like the death note, albeit difficult, is possible. But you won't be able to construct a thinking, sentientorganism from a person's memories and magical mudlike Cleo from Legacies.
