Starting my BoS

I am beginning my Book of Shadows and I am not certain what to do next. I have a binder, paper etc, but do I dedicate it or bless it first? Or do I put something on it or in it first? Help please! I'm going a little wonky.

In my point of view, I would first fill it before blessing it or protecting it. There's nothing to protect if you have nothing in it, right? But that's just my point of view. Others might have a different perspective.

I agree with Theurgic. There’s no point blessing or dedicating something if there’s nothing to bless or dedicate. Once you’re satisfied with what you have written, then you can start the other stuff. You can continue to add to your BoS, but at least you’ll have something to bless and/or dedicate.

I differ in opinion; I think it is absolutely fine to dedicate a book (notebook, etc.) as a book of shadows before ever writing anything in it. It helps associate your intention with its use, at the very least.

If you're interested in a short series of videos about a book of shadows, Benebell Wen has a playlist about her own. She describes her own process, though I will also tell you it is not **the** process. Do as you will, and all that. There is no wrong way, and learning what others have done may be a big help in deciding your own path.
