I'm wanting to know how I can enchant an item preferably with a protection charm or a charm to imbue an item with something to make its wielder more attuned to it.
My advice would probably lean more towards charging your item, rather than enchanting.
A classic example would be the use of crystals. Direct sunlight or moonlight is an excellent source of energy in charging crystals. With saying that, I'm not sure as to what item you speaking of, however charging them correctly will give its user/wielder the opportunity to extract it's optimal energies and making them more in tune with their tool/item.
A protection spell can be placed over it, however, remember, you have to renew these protection spell, as you recharge your item. This will make your tool or item somewhat enchanting and you will be attuned to it's energies.
