Ok from one herbalist to the none herbalist I believe it is the consumers resposability to find out what's they should or shouldn't consume she is simple sharing her information not making them use or take it so I think you all should let her share her recipes and u have the choice to use them or not... In my opinion

Kalen dear, this is why qualifications exist. It takes years of study to prescribe. You wouldn't go to an orthodox practitioner if you had the same knowledge as them, would you? You expect them to know enough not to put you in danger It is the same with herbs. In my country a legal qualification is required both to buy and to prescribe herbs. Herbs are medicines, not playthings.

I would like to know how drinking this nasty concoction is supposed to help heal a 'broken' heart. Just because you add a fancy Latin name to it does not mean it will help. If you really want to 'heal a broken heart', try therapy or learning that life is not kittens and gumdrops and getting over it.

And my guess is that no matter what you add to it, the rosehip would make it red anyway.

I have only been studying herbalism "seriously" for four years. But when I say study, I mean study! I pick an herb and research EVERYTHING I can. Writing notes of all the information I accumulate. I don't know every single herb out there, but the ones I do use and recommend are ones I've thoroughly investigated.

I make a point to only advise people in herbs that cannot cause any harm or contraindictions. If there is one or two unusual contraindictions, I will inform them of it. Zebrah and I are merely giving people the education of the herbs that they would need to avoid possible injury to their bodies. It is purely done out of care for the individuals who may consider using this tonic. There are many herbs that have few to no ill effects in the proper dose and can be used on children as long as their are no allergies to the ingredients. There ARE safe herbs out there. Take Hawthorn for example. Tell me one bad thing about it.

As healers we strive to help, not harm those who listen to us. And in not giving warning to the possible ill effects of any herb or alternative cure/treatment be it magickal or physically potent, is in my opinion an irresponsible choice on the healer. If you know of possible complications with an herb or plant material that you suggest, and have taken the time out of your life to share your formulas with others, it won't take more than a few moments to add what "risks" are involved.

If you're intentions are not to harm anyone, then you should take the effort to insure that people are not harmed by following your advice.

Personally, if anyone wishes to try this, I would replace poppyseed with passionflower as it is non-toxic, and has no contraindictions or drug interactions. Although I would advise not taking it with anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication due to possible stacking of the same effect. Large doses or allergic reaction could cause an upset stomach, but that's about it. Small doses have anti-anxiety/depression effects, larger doses cause drowsiness and aid insomnia. Start small and increase dose until you feel the effect you desire.

I have read all of your comments both the supportive and helpful as well as the skeptical and opposing.

I have to say that indeed, I was just stating my formula for the tonic I created. LdyGry has stated that using it externally such as in a bath would also be quite suitable, and I agree. I also never claimed any sort of title profesionally or otherwise. I did state my experience and time of study in herbalism and that ia all. Several people mentioned substitutions, and I would agree and believe that you can substitute whatever you like to bring about the desired result that tailors to your specific need.

As for the harsh criticism is concerend, if you disagree with or dislike the tonic and its formula that is your choice and right. In that same respect you aren't going to use or take it, and therefore shouldn't concern yourself so much with debating something as trivial as this, that does not affect you directly.

Ultimately I just wanted to share my mixture for the betterment of knowledge and healing.

Thanks everyone and Blessed Be.

I would also like to add in the UK it is now illegal to buy and consume products from a unlicenced herbalist. For unlicenced herbalists, it is illegal to sell them.
