Hey Calicoub i just wanted to touch base with you on your question. Generally most of us try and not get people worked up about the use of love spells and i will tell you why. Love spells exist on a sliding scale of either working and nonworking. Basically you can not change someones mind if they do not love you, it breaks free will and even if it was possible not many of us would openly hand just anyone a spell like that.
However, you still have other ways to draw in love to your life. Attraction is something different then binding someone's will. Basically by sending your energy out in the world your searching for the same people looking for similar attributes in a lover. You do this be understanding how to use energy, intent, symbolism, and visualization to manifest what your looking for. To completely answer your question, attraction spells are good to cast during the early stages of the waxing moon or the first crescent moon. Study and practice and good luck!
There is really no right or wrong time to cast, as each individuals intent is what makes a spell powerful. Some feel they can better harness or develop their energy and intent with the tides or moon phases, some even go by time of day/night or even seasons. There really isn't a strict code on when to cast. What you can do to better educate yourself and learn more on your own personal development of your craft is to research more on the astrological placement of the constellations. By researching where the stars are located and what beliefs may draw from that will help you develop a better sense of when you want to cast and if you want to use that energy and influence in your spell.
As for the type of spell, the previous reply is spot on. No one is going to tell you that you can't cast a love spell, but many will air great caution in doing so. I strongly believe if someone does not have feelings for you (in the same manner you have for them) why would you want them? Why would anyone want someone that does not want to be with them? It is a difficult realization but one that can grow with understanding. In all honesty, every love spell that I have seen cast has backfired. All of them resulted in the target growing disgusted with the individual that case the spell. It did the exact opposite as to what the spell was intended. There are other spells that can help influence love or relationships without trying to interfere with free will, but at the end of the day you have the choice to cast what you want. Now, I'm not an astrology expert - I've been studying it for a while, but it is a rather complicated subject. However, I'll try to tackle at least some basic ideas of the Moon and Cancer energies.
A full Moon in Cancer would have powerful Cancer energies, as the Moon and Cancer are quite at home together. Any energies the Moon is associated with, Cancer most likely is too. Families, mothers, feminine energies, the home, and sensitivity are associated with these energies. If you want to do spells based on what's happening astrologically, this might be a better time to focus on the hearth and home and what's happening in your family life.
Full Moons, however, are often regarded as apowerful time magickally, so if you want to base it just off of that feel free.

I don't follow the moons to that extreme, so I don't know if people think it is or not. If you believe in the moon sign effecting the spells energy, research it and cast if appropriate, but I feel casting with moon signs is like the moon phases, it helps your spell, but it's ultimately the energy you put forth that matters most.
You might wish to check out the YouTube channel BehatiLife, she's all about astrology and she recently did a video on the full moon of cancer [haven't had a chance to watch it yet] and she talks about the energy and what to look for both good and bad with the moon, you might get an idea of what to do there.
