do you have to ask the tree first?
I created my staff at the age of 16. When I found the perfect branch it fallen since it was not attached to the tree I simply thanked the tree for the gift. Also I never used such a spell or enchantment. I poured all my energy intent and emotion into it as I cleaned and carved it. Now at age 54 my staff has evolved and is a very powerful extention of my power.
If I made a staff, could I store it somewhere?
What do you mean by ''Store it somewhere?'' It's a physical object, you could place it in a closet, against the wall, under your bed, anywhere it fits. You just need to find a safe place where it won't be broken or exposed to the elements [like leaving it outside wouldn't be wise, but if you have a shelf where you keep your magickal tools, you could prop it against that]
