You do not need a spell to become a witch. You practice witchcraft and you can call yourself a witch. As for warlock, it is an insult, a male witch is called a witch. ''Warlock'' comes from an old English word that means ''oathbreaker'' which is why most do not use it.
I like the term warlock, I think it suits me. Not saying I'm a bad person, but I have been known to break promises in order to survive, so I prefer to be called a warlock.
If that's your choice, go for it [just be prepared to explain that a lot as the majority of witches don't like the term] A word of advice, if I may, don't make promises/oaths you can't keep. Be more select when giving people your word. Go with ''I'll try my best'' instead of ''I promise'' since in Paganism you would make an oath to other practitioners for secrecy, or higher powers for loyalty, and breaking those can come with greater consequences than promising to go to the movies with a friend and cancelling last minute [still bad, but not as dangerous] Good luck to you.
You don't need to chant a spell to become a witch or wizard. The only way to become a witch or wizard is to know magic. That's it. It's that simple.
