Snakeskin in spellcraft?

As a birthday gift, one of my friends gave me a skin that her male corn snake had shed! I was wondering what this could be used for. I remember reading somewhere that snakeskin could be used in glamours?

If it was still mostly intact and nice looking I would use it simply to put on my altar but that's just me. You could also use it for protection magick or things like that. All in all, as it's a pretty unusual ingredient you could do some more research on it or just use it for what you think feels right. Also, about it being used in glamour I'm not really sure about glamour magick. From what I've seen for the most part it's fluff. It won't change anyone's appearance as many spells will claim to do. From what I've been told a real glamour will just change the light that certain people perceive you in, it will change nothing physical.

I imagine snakeskin would represent many of the same things snake itself does. A bit of exploring on what snakes represent should give you some ideas on how you could apply it.

... Just remember that it dries out and gets really fragile so the less you handle it the better. Though it might be an idea to cut off a small piece that you could then store aside in a personalised or sacred container of some sort. That way you have a chunk you can carry out with you to use and handle in magic while the rest stays safe.

I have actually found that reuseable cigarette cases are awesome for this. They are durable (usually metal), and usually have a spring-hinged leaf or similar mechanism for holding things in place inside.

Personally I would involve snake when I wanted to connect with primordial energies. Old wisdom, old spirits, protection, and especially inner or hidden knowledge.

Snakeskin hasbeen used in everything from love spells to curses.

In hoodoo snake skin is used in curses, such as in the famous mixture called gooer dust. This was supposedly made to either make someone's life a living hell or perhaps even killing them. It was deployed by laying them down in an area where the target will walk or step in. This was called laying a trick. Of course the ingridents to make it are not of a corn snake, but rather a rattlesnake.

I have a whole jar of snake skin from a boa and a python, which are both constrictors. I haven't used it yet, but I would not use it for what I said above. I would rather use it for baneful bindings because constrictors strangle their prey before eating them.

Though I see people use snake skin to symbolize shedding the old and bring in the new. People also like to do rituals on the full moon or even new moon for breaking old habits. Try making a powder with it and burn as incense or something.
